We help foster a campus climate in which all women can work to achieve their personal and professional academic, research and service goals in an equitable, supportive and intellectually challenging environment. We focus on four themes (outreach, research, leadership and advocacy) and regularly partner with faculty, staff and students from on and off campus.
Our professional and student staff members, representing multiple colleges and majors across campus, support annual campaigns and infuse the campus with their expertise, passion and activism. In addition to sexual violence prevention education, the staff members coordinate several annual events.
- The Clothesline Project—a hands-on display to raise awareness about violence against women
- The Vagina Monologues—a student-produced theatrical celebration of Eve Ensler’s monologues that increases awareness about the social construction of gender and femininity and raises funds to support local organizations that work to end violence against women
- The Women’s Recognition Reception—an event to acknowledge and honor women and men in our community who are actively making a difference toward empowering women’s lives
