College Checkup

Susan Kitei, director of student health services at Lehigh, was quoted in an article on maintaining a healthy lifestyle while living on a college campus. “Living in the dormitories for the first time is similar to having many siblings. Having more people in a family increases the chance of spreading and contracting germs and disease, according to Kitei. She explains that Lehigh students are required to either receive a meningitis vaccine or sign a waiver stating that they understand the risk of not receiving the vaccine. The vaccine protects individuals "from two-thirds of meningococcal meningitis," she says. Karen Sincinski, staff nurse at Lehigh’s Health Center, appeared in a photograph that accompanied the article.
