Sally White's comments on the pressure LeBron James faces to fill Michael Jordon's shoes, were picked up by close to a dozen newspapers across the country, reaching nearly a million people. White, dean and professor in the college of education at Lehigh who is also a sports psychologist, said, "In this particular situation, with the media hyping up as the next Michael Jordon, the athlete's expectations have gone through the roof. You're talking about a concept that is incredibly difficult to manage even for your most mature, experienced athlete."

Shortsighted Defendants Encourage Silly Lawsuits

Carol Gorney, professor of journalism and communication at Lehigh, wrote an Op-ed on Nestle SA's recently announced plans to settle a $12 million class-action lawsuit involving it's Poland Spring bottled water that claims Poland Spring isn't really spring water. "The reality is that settling such frivolous lawsuits only encourages more of the same, and 'more of the same' examples abound," said Gorney.

Pete Yorn is Having a Great Day

Pete Yorn performed at Zoellner Arts Center Sunday after coming off a set of shows opening for REM. "I try to learn from opening shows," said Yorn, who represents a shift away from the hollow but popular musical norm on Top 40 stations. "Basically my strength is songwriting, but I get to watch Michael Stipe and David Grohl."
