Turks in Iraq Could Endanger Region

An article written by Henri Barkey, chair of the international relations department, and Rajan Menon, professor of international relations, that first appeared in the L.A. Times last week and then went out over the Tribune Media Service wire, continues to get picked up by newspapers across the country. "The Bush administration is making a mistake by seeking Turkish soldiers for duty in Iraq. Confronted by a guerilla war--waged by Saddam Hussein loyalists and Islamic militants from outside Iraq--and a U.S. Congress and public increasingly skeptical about the logic behind the war and its costs, the White House understandably wants to reduce the toll in blood and treasure being paid by the United States," they wrote.

Lehigh faces midterms, Colgate

Asked if he had anything special planned for this week while preparing to play unbeaten Colgate in a game that likely will decide the Patriot League football champion, Lehigh University coach Pete Lembo replied: "Yeah, we have 4 p.m. exams at Lehigh all week. That's the special thing. What we typically do is back up the start of practice until about 5. That gives the guys a chance to get done and get over there."
