Girardot is a Distinguished University Professor of Religion Studies at Lehigh.
Girardot’s book, The Victorian Translation of China: James Legge's Oriental Pilgrimage, was given the Award for Excellence in the category of historical studies, and will be officially recognized at a ceremony in Atlanta this November.
The AAR’s Awards for Excellence honor new scholarly publications that make significant contributions to the study of religions. "Books of distinctive originality, intelligence, creativity and importance, as well as books that affect decisively how religion is examined, understood and interpreted" are celebrated by the annual awards event, according to Shannon Planck, AAR director of development.
Founded in 1909, the AAR is a professional association of more than 8,000 members who research and teach in 1,500 colleges, universities, seminaries and schools throughout North America and abroad.
