Gast said she would apply her experience in higher education, chemical engineering and research policy to the governance of Chevron.
“I look forward to working with an exceptionally talented group of directors, and I have been impressed with Chevron’s leadership, vision and governance practices. In a news release, Chevron Corporation chair John Watson said, “Dr. Gast has tremendous technical and industry expertise that will be a valuable asset to our board discussions.”
Brad Scheler, chair of Lehigh’s Board of Trustees, commented: “The election of President Gast to the board of Chevron brings additional and well-deserved distinction to the university and to President Gast.
“The recruitment of Alice by Chevron, a multinational business enterprise, provides further confirmation that Lehigh students and faculty are actively engaged in addressing global challenges.
