The department of earth and environmental sciences presents an address by Anton Seimon, assistant director of the Latin America and Caribbean Program for the Wildlife Conservation Society.

The Sigma Xi Lecture series presents an address by Brian Chen, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, about the ways in which algorithms influence our lives.

Tuesday, Jan. 25: “Embrittlement in Aluminum Lithium Alloys: Side Lessons Learned from Helicopter
Crashes”

The department of materials science and engineering and the Center for Advanced Materials
and Nanotechnology present an address by Timotius Pasang, deputy head of the mechanical and
manufacturing department at AUT University in Auckland, New Zealand, and Loewy Visiting Professor in
the materials science and engineering department at Lehigh.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Room 203 of Whitaker Lab.

Tuesday, Jan. 25: Martin Luther King Week Keynote Address

The office of multicultural affairs presents an address by Tim Wise, author of Colorblind: The Rise of Post-Racial Liberalism.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 101 of Packard Lab and is part of the 2011 MLK Week Celebration.

Thursday, Jan. 27: Interfaith Breakfast

The office of multicultural affairs and the chaplain’s office present an interfaith breakfast as part of the 2011 MLK Week Celebration.
