Lehigh regularly reviews its facilities, resources, and services, and most recently, the university contracted with Stafford Sports LLC, in conjunction with NorthMarq Advisors LLC, to begin an assessment in order to develop a multi-year plan for Stabler Arena and Convocation Center
. This analysis has been under consideration for several years.
Lehigh chose Stafford Sports and NorthMarq Advisors after conducting a national search. The two firms have an unparalleled understanding of arena culture, history, growth, and competition in the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Both possess a real world, hands-on perspective to market research gained from more than 25 years of effectively working with some of the most successful arenas in the country, such as The Spectrum in Philadelphia and the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
“Stabler Arena has been an important asset to this community for the past 30 years. We are interested in seeing how the market and community needs have changed in that time, so we can address these shifting needs,” says Mark Ironside, executive director of business services. “Competition is a consideration for any business, and since the mid 1990s, 14 arenas have been built within 100 miles of Stabler. It is important to gain a better understanding of Stabler Arena’s place in the current market.”
Executives from Stafford Sports and NorthMarq are currently meeting with stakeholders at Lehigh and in the region, and the analysis for Stabler Arena should be completed by early fall.
