Government intervention is vital to changing the food environment our children face. We are hunter/gatherers, and when bombarded with food everywhere we go (Macy's has chocolate for sale at check-out counters), we "think" we need it. Children cannot combat these impulses (nor can most adults). Government should end advertising of junk food to children, get it out of schools, and tax it heavily so parents won't buy it. Schools should not use candy and other sweets as reinforcers.
