This situation is complex in which due to lifestyle change, price of food, values, economy, preference, and lack of close knit families all have effect obesity in children. The lack of natural and unprocessed food is very difficult to find, expensive, or not tasty. This creates kids learning to budget money wanting to save, quantity over quality, and buy snacks and simple sugar foods that feed their taste buds, not their bodies. Because you can have a double patty hamburger for 1 dollar, cheap and fast parents are not wanting to cook or too busy due to the change of standards of women. More households have both parents working creating a lower amount of weekly sit down and home cooked meals. The economy, many people do not like Walmart, but because much of America is not concerned with fair trade, but with a cheap price. The same with food. People aren't wanting to buy vegetables and fruit over chips and soda. Obesity has developed because of lack of exercise due to technological advances and a developing laziness. Parents are able to control this by teaching their families good eating habits, more about nutrition, preparing meals, teaching how to prepare their own meals, the health hazardous, encourage them to exercise, monitor time sitting watching TV, computer, etc, and by setting a good example. But over all with the amount of people that lack education and are of lower income are not able to have enough energy to cook a meal, but the expectation is they should cook a healthy and nutritious meal. Government programs need to start controlling the food companies to lower the fat and create fast food that is not fried, but is healthy and easy, but tasty because people will not buy food that they think is not satisfying due to the large amount of choices.
