I believe some vital interventions for combating childhood obesity are providing education programs to families through schools and local community about nutrition, health concerns related to obesity, and how to make better choices in everyday life. I think it is important to begin with education very early on and include the children and the parents in these endeavors. I also feel we need to practice what we preach, which includes increasing healthy food choices in elementary, secondary, and post secondary cafeterias and significantly limit marketing of unhealthy foods to young children in our schools.
