Virginia Lyon and Paul Anderson '26

Paul Sutro Anderson (1902-1976) earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University in 1926. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve. At the beginning of World War II, Anderson was transferred from the Army to the Air Corps, having been licensed as a pilot in 1930. He served as liaison officer with the Royal Air Force in England, and completed his service in 1946 with the rank of colonel.

Following his service in the armed forces, Anderson actively developed both residential and commercial projects, primarily in Maryland. He was involved in civic affairs in both Washington and Annapolis, Maryland.

Virginia Lyon Anderson (1904-1996), his wife, established the Paul S. Anderson and Robert H. Lyon Memorial Fund at Lehigh University in memory of her husband and her father, Robert H.  Lyon, a member of the Class of 1905.  Robert Lyon was vice president of Lyon, Conklin & Co., Inc., a Baltimore, Maryland sheet metal fabricating company until his death in 1939.
