Elizabeth A. Leach
Elizabeth Ann Leach was the sister of Orin T. Leach, class of 1934. She was a businesswoman and an equestrian who shared her home with many dachshunds and pug dogs. Leach was very close to her brother, Orin T. Leach, and his family. She has been described as direct, thoughtful, and generous. That generosity extended to support of the College of Business and Economics and the Orin T. Leach ’34 Scholarship Fund for Lehigh business students established by her brother.
Orin Leach received a degree in business administration with a concentration in economics. He was a member of the football team and Theta Delta Chi fraternity, and was a competitive yachtsman who cruised throughout the world.
Leach’s career began with A. G. Becker and Company. Following Navy service during World War II, he joined Estabrook and Company, a member of the New York Stock Exchange, where he was a partner until his retirement. During his lifetime, he generously funded scholarships and supported the College of Business and Economics in memory of a former dean and professor, Neil Carothers.
When Leach died in 1991, his estate provided a bequest that established a permanent endowment fund. When his sister, Elizabeth Ann Leach, passed away in November of 2009, her bequest was added to the Orin T. Leach ’34 Scholarship Fund.
