Linda Gamble and Michael D. Zisman 1970

Michael D. Zisman earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in 1970, where he was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi. He then earned an M.S. in systems engineering and Ph.D. in decision sciences, both from the University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation, Zisman was a professor at the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He founded Soft-Switch, Inc., a software firm, which was acquired by Lotus Communications Products Group in 1994. Zisman served as senior vice president of Lotus before joining IBM in several senior management positions. He retired from IBM in 2004 as vice president of corporate strategy, where he focused on IBM’s On Demand strategy. He is currently managing director of the Internet Capital Group in Wayne, Pa.

Zisman is a Lehigh trustee, member of the P.C Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences advisory board, and has been a longtime supporter of the university. Priorities he supports include the Zisman Family Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Lehigh Fund, and the annual Gala for the Friends of Zoellner Arts Center. He is a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra Board of Directors, a member of the Main Line Health Board of Governors, and an overseer of the Penn School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Father to four children, Zisman and his wife, Linda Gamble, reside in Wayne, Pa.
