Karen A. and Steven J. Lee 1969
Steven J. Lee earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and mathematics from Lehigh in 1969. He furthered his education in the fields of business and law, earning an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He was a member of the bars of New York and Massachusetts.
Lee was among an active group of undergraduate students who aided Lehigh in its decision to become a coeducational institution. Most recently, he served as co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of PolyMedica Corporation whose Liberty Medical Corporation became the leading national provider of direct-to-home specialty and diabetes medical products and services to more than a million Medicare-eligible senior citizens. Lee has served as a director of public and private companies, and currently runs a private hedge fund investing in high technology and medical fields. He is the author of seven books on finance and venture capital; the most recent, The Money Plan (published in June 2011), is a practical plan for young professionals to achieve wealth independence. Karen Lee, R.N., M.S., F.N.P., is a graduate of Rutgers University and Hunter College. She previously served as an instructor of medical and surgical nursing at the university level in New York, and is a partner with her husband in several entrepreneurial ventures.
The Lees have given generously to Lehigh throughout the years. One of their gifts endowed the Steven J. ’69 and Karen A. Lee Head Crew Coach position.
The Lees have been married for 39 years. Their daughter, Megan, graduated from Lehigh in 2002 and has an M.B.A. and a J.D. from Suffolk University. Their son, Justin, is a graduate of Tufts University and George Washington Medical School and practices interventional radiology at Georgetown University Hospital.
