D. Brooks Zug 1967
D. Brooks Zug is a member of the Lehigh Class of 1967, where he was an accounting major. He was treasurer of the Kappa Alpha Society, class president for three years, a photographer for the Brown and White, and a cheerleader. After receiving his B.S. degree, Zug worked at Price Waterhouse and went on to Harvard to acquire his M.B.A. in 1970.
From 1970 to 1974, Zug worked at Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, a Boston investment banking firm. He later joined Sun Life of Canada. In 1977, he joined John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston, and in 1982, he founded Hancock Venture Partners, Inc. In 1997, he formed Harbour Vest Partners, LLC to buy out Hancock Venture Partners business.
Zug has retained his close ties to Lehigh University. For more than 40 years, Zug was president of his alumni class. He served as a university trustee from 2000-2008, serving on the academic affairs, cultural, and development committees. He also is a member of the Asa Packer Society. He served as vice chairman for the Boston-area Preserving the Vision Campaign. Zug established the D. Brooks Zug Endowed Scholarship to help deserving students receive a Lehigh education. Additionally, in consideration of his father and brothers and in recognition of the family tradition at Lehigh, Zug named a faculty office in the Rauch Business Center.
Zug lives in Sherborn, Mass., with his wife, Linda.
