Bonnie and Frank T. Pratt 1965
“Your generosity has impacted another’s life and for that I am thankful,” wrote Kareem Elsayed ’13 in a thank you note to Bonnie and Frank Pratt for their generosity. Elsayed, who graduated with a bachelor of science degree in behavioral neuroscience, was just one of many talented students who was able to receive a Lehigh education because of a Pratt inspired scholarship.
Frank earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1965 and an M.B.A. degree in 1966 from Lehigh University. While at Lehigh, he was a member of Theta Xi fraternity.
Frank began his career in 1970 at Bear Stearns & Company as an equity analyst and a research salesman. He later worked at Morgan Stanley in the Convertible Securities Department serving as a principal in 1982 and later as a managing director in 1987. In 1994, he became co-head of Global Convertibles, retiring from Morgan Stanley in 2003. Frank is president of The Pratt Family Foundation that he established in 2003 with his wife, Bonnie, to help support education, human services, and other important causes.
Bonnie Pratt grew up outside of Philadelphia and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. She received a master’s degree from Columbia University and an M.B.A. degree from New York University. She had an extensive career at Citibank, retiring in 1998. Bonnie is vice president of The Pratt Family Foundation and is involved in a variety of charitable activities.
The many contributions that the Pratt family has made to the university speaks loudly of their commitment to helping students with financial need. Their generous contributions over the years include the establishment of two student scholarships. The Kathryn and Thomas Pratt ’35 Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund was created in 1994 in honor of Frank’s parents to support students from the Lehigh Valley region. The Anna and Robert Wimmer Endowed Scholarship Fund was created in 1999 in honor of Frank’s aunt and uncle and is awarded to students whose parents served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Frank and Bonnie have also supported past annual scholarship campaigns.
The Pratts are long-time members of the Asa Packer Society and Tower Society, Lehigh’s leadership giving societies. Their most recent contribution benefits the Iacocca International Internship Endowment Fund and the College of Business and Economics Dean’s Strategic Initiative Fund.
Frank and Bonnie reside in Manhattan. They have two children, Lindsay and Toby. Lindsay is a 2003 Lehigh University alumna. Frank’s father, Tom, was a member of Lehigh’s Class of 1935.
