Think it gets quiet at Lehigh during the summer? Believe it or not, we’re not kicking back with lemonade on the porch or spending every day on the golf course. Our office is in full swing, and classes are in session. Up on our Mountaintop, in a revitalized Bethlehem Steel building, students are exploring sustainable farming, composting, smart spaces, 3D printable prosthetics, and other ideas with great promise and possibilities.
I did manage to tear myself away from the office long enough to take a quick vacation to Hilton Head, SC to celebrate my father-in-law's 80th birthday! I took our family to the historic district of Savannah just a few miles away in Georgia. We ate at the Sapphire Grill
, which came highly recommended to me by a friend. The food was fantastic—easily one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Chris Nason '90, of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), is the owner/chef so if you are ever in the area, you should check out his restaurant—tell Chris that Bob sent you!
When you are making your summer plans, don’t forget that our Class of 2018 is enjoying a final summer hurrah before college. I hope you’ll help us welcome students and parents at a Sendoff event near you
—after all, you can never have too many summer parties to attend! Also watch for opportunities to sharing your wisdom and memories with our incoming class via Twitter and Facebook. Your warm wishes mean so much to these new members of the Lehigh family!
You can give our students a boost in another important way. Right now, we are in the final hours of our fiscal year, which closes on June 30. Lehigh students need your support. Now, more than ever—YOU matter. When you make a gift to the Lehigh Fund, you are strengthening the educational experience of a student. Your gift may help to create a work-study position, help fund an international opportunity, or fill a financial aid need. Please click here to make your gift today.
Thank you for your support. From all of us here at Lehigh, we wish you a happy Fourth of July!
Sincerely,Robert W. Wolfenden
