I’ve seen it happen time and time again. At a Lehigh event or lecture – on campus or off – the featured speaker talks about a hot topic in education, a challenge facing our society, or a struggling business endeavor. When the session closes, the crowd lingers, and you can hear the conversations unfold. What can be done to change the circumstances? How can an operation be scaled? How can we help?
That’s because if you’re from Lehigh, you just can’t resist getting fired up about a good problem. We’re a community of creative thinkers and problem solvers, geared to take action. Show you a need, and your instinct is to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. And that’s what makes Ignite LU, our new student crowdfunding initiative
, a perfect fit for our students and alumni.
Each year, in the great tradition of Lehigh, we have a host of students working on projects that will change our world. They teach children to read
and peers to lead
. They help provide clean water in remote regions
. They build bridges to allow villagers in South America year-round access
to education and health care. They volunteer at schools and community organizations, locally
. They take on these projects in addition to their coursework, on their own time and often with their own money.
Now, through Ignite LU
, you can learn about the amazing work our students are doing and directly support their efforts. These are small projects, with definite budgets and timeframes, so you can easily see the impact of your generosity. It’s not only a great chance to enrich the Lehigh experience for outstanding students, but also an opportunity to spark change in our world as a whole.
So let’s get fired up, Lehigh!
