Attracting Talented Students
Enriching the undergraduate and graduate student experience at Lehigh takes on many dimensions.
It starts with access and affordability through financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships. We seek to ensure every qualified student can afford a Lehigh education.
We are also committed to supporting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who work side-by-side with faculty, mentor undergraduates, and are critical to maintaining a dynamic and productive intellectual environment. There are many ways that donors can support the work of these scholars.
- Graduate and postdoctoral research funds provide essential resources that enable graduate students’ own research as well as their work with faculty and undergraduates.
- Professional development awards enable graduate students to attend major meetings and conferences at which they present their original research, an activity that is important for student professional development and also for Lehigh’s reputation in the world.
- Dissertation fellowships enable doctoral students to devote their full effort to completing their dissertations, allowing rapid transition to productive work beyond Lehigh.
We also seek to ensure a personalized experience for every Lehigh student, with emphasis on student-faculty interaction and increased opportunities for quality research for both undergraduate and graduate students. Increased opportunities for global activities are part of our goal, focusing on the need to prepare students to lead in a global society through programs like the Iacocca International Internship Program.
The ongoing vitality of the Lehigh campus and residential experience is also essential, giving students the opportunity for interaction with people from varying and sometimes contrary perspectives. Meaningful opportunities must also be made available in a range of co-curricular environments. Priority projects around the student experience include the renovation of Williams Hall, and ongoing support for Zoellner Arts Center, Jewish Student Life, and the Athletics Partnership.
