Olivia Hodina '15

Tolland, CT
Major: Marketing and Supply Chain Management
Minor: Graphic Design

Are you proud to say that you are from Lehigh? "I am so proud!  I am proud to carry on my grandfather’s legacy and graduate with a Lehigh degree.  I never thought I would have such an absolutely incredible undergraduate experience."

What are your career aspirations?
Eventually start my own business!

How well do you think the Lehigh business curriculum prepared you for success in getting a job or internship?
I felt that the strength of my business experience came from those professors who had real world experience and knew exactly what would be useful to learn to be competitive upon graduating.

Have you found the curriculum to be flexible in allowing you to pursue diverse interests in addition to your business interests?
Flexibility is what drew me to Lehigh and the CBE.  I am able to double major to tailor my curriculum to topics that relate to my interest in retail, as well as minor in a subject outside of the CBE.  Lehigh does an excellent job giving students the opportunity to customize their education for their individual career aspirations.

What experiences outside of your business study, do you credit for some of your success?
I was able to participate in the Lehigh in Belgium study abroad program, which took my marketing education to a global scale.  I now have experience applying marketing concepts to the European market and seeing them firsthand.

Have you found someone within the CBE to be particularly helpful as you make important decisions?
Professor Beth Gallant has been my go-to source for career advice in retail.  Her experience is unmatched in the field.  She has given me contacts in Fortune 500 companies and ultimately helped me land my internship with Ross Stores next summer.

Do you see yourself as part of a community that’s is instrumental to success now and beyond Lehigh?
I have formed relationships that will reach beyond my undergraduate years at Lehigh.  My Kappa Delta sisters, professors, alumni relations staff, career services, alumni from my adopting class of 1965…they all have provided me with a feeling of community.  Lehigh is for a lifetime.
