What is the Lehigh HBPE Core?

The MS Health and Biopharmaceutical Economics program is not accepting applications at this time. Various health economics options are available through our MS program in Economics.

The LEHIGH HBPE
core curriculum introduces students to the tools of microeconomic and econometric analysis, and then to their application to cost-benefit studies and to analysis of health care businesses and institutions. The program requires successful completion of 30 credit hours: 21 credit hours of core courses and 9 credit hours of electives. The core courses are:

Managerial Economics
 3 credits
Mathematical Economics 3 credits
Econometrics 3 credits
Health Economics 3 credits
Cost-Benefit Analysis 3 credits
Economic Analysis of Market Competition 3 credits
Biopharmaceutical Economics  3 credits 
 
 
In addition, nine credit hours of elective courses are required. Overall, the program for the master’s degree must include:
  • At least 30 credit hours of graduate work
  • At least 18 credit hours in 400 level courses
  • At least 18 credit hours in the College of Business & Economics,
  • At least 15 credit hours in 400 level courses in the College of Business & Economics
