Since joining Cushman & Wakefield in 1981, Tara Stacom has distinguished herself as one of the leading Tenant Representation professionals in the real estate industry. As a Vice Chairman and Member of Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Advisory Board, Ms. Stacom has consistently ranked among the firm’s top 5 producing brokers globally and is a top 2 producing broker in the New York Region over the last 6 years. In 2004, Ms. Stacom was the number one broker worldwide.
During her 27-year career, Ms. Stacom has been responsible for over 35 million square feet of office transactions ranging from gross and net leases to synthetic and ground leases, build-to-suits, and property acquisitions and dispositions. Ms. Stacom has managed real estate transactions for clients including: The Bank of New York, J. & W. Seligman, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher, Remy Cointreau USA, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, and Colgate-Palmolive Company.
Ms. Stacom has completed some of the industry’s largest and most complex property sales and corporate finance transactions. Most notably, for the Bank of New York, now BNY Mellon she negotiated 1.2 msf of leasing transactions in a 2 week period following 9/11, sold their headquarters’ building at 48 Wall Street, and structured a synthetic lease transaction that saved the Bank in excess of $16 million. For Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Ms. Stacom developed an occupancy strategy that resulted in a consolidation of their New York locations into a 375,000 sf corporate headquarters at 1250 Broadway.
Ms. Stacom is best known by her clients for her creativity, exceptional service, and ability to structure complex transactions. A compelling testament to her dedication to the industry and community is the great number of awards Ms. Stacom has received including Crain’s New York Business 100 Most Influential Women in New York City Business, New York Executives in Real Estate’s (WX) “Woman of the Year”, Realty Foundation of New York honoree, Real Estate New York Women of Influence; and Northwood University’s Distinguished Women’s Award.
She is a recipient of prestigious Alumni Awards in recognition of her commitment and service to her alma maters, Lehigh University and Greenwich Academy. Ms. Stacom is most proud of the C&W Service Excellence award acknowledging her successful relocation of more than 4,000 Bank of New York employees dislocated on 9/11, within two weeks of the tragic event.
Ms. Stacom serves the real estate industry as a Director of the Realty Foundation of New York; and a Member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the Ethics Committee and Commercial Brokerage Division’s Board of Directors. A believer in “giving back”, Ms. Stacom is a Director’s Circle Member and rotational Board Member of Girls, Inc., a national non-profit that draws upon prominent women in U.S. industry to support girls in their quest to become strong and independent women.
Ms. Stacom also serves on the Board of Trustees and business school Dean's Advisory Council of her alma mater, Lehigh University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and is responsible for establishing a minor in real estate in its business college.
