Income Tax Director, Ingersoll Rand Company (ret.)
Brenda Gruver Tarulli ’78 was the Income Tax Director at Ingersoll Rand Company. In this position her responsibilities included: transfer pricing; special income tax audits; and USGAAP and IRFS tax accounting in specialty areas. She was with Ingersoll Rand Company since 1979.
Over the past 30 years, Ms. Tarulli has held a variety of positions within the company. She previously had responsibilities in worldwide USGAAP tax accounting; non-US tax planning; the IRS audit of the US Consolidated Return; US tax return compliance of the non-US affiliates; and automating the tax function. Tarulli’s career at Ingersoll Rand started in the Internal Audit department as a computer audit specialist that was responsible for testing controls surrounding financial reporting systems.
While at Ingersoll Rand, Ms. Tarulli managed the planning and implementation of a corporate reorganization which enables the company to save $125 million in taxes each year. In addition, she guided the tax department of the company through the implementation of new processes and systems which enable the management of incremental reporting requirements of Sarbanes Oxley; reduce cycle time for external reporting; and improve the quality of data.
Prior to joining Ingersoll Rand, Ms. Tarulli was a systems analyst for Bamberger’s (subsidiary of Macy’s) from 1978-1979.
Ms. Tarulli graduated from Lehigh in 1978 with a B.S. in Accounting. Her volunteer activities include her current position as Finance Chair, and previously (2007-2011) held position as Stewardship Chair, for the Church Council of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ramsey, NJ. She also coached a girls’ travel soccer team from 1998-2003.
Ms. Taruilli is a member of the Executive Committee of the Dean's Advisory Council.
