Sidney J. Silver is a founding partner of Silver, Freedman & Taff, a 15-member law firm in Washington, D.C. Mr. Silver represents a variety of mature and growing companies in the retail, wholesale, service and manufacturing businesses and has negotiated a wide variety of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and license agreements in Europe, the Americas and Asia. He also advises clients on business and strategic planning, negotiations, economic analysis, financial planning and sophisticated tax planning. Mr. Silver has taught economics, accounting and economic statistics at the university level and has lectured in the areas of taxation, business management, negotiation strategy, retail real estate and franchising.
Mr. Silver received his baccalaureate degree with honors and MBA, both from Lehigh University, in addition to his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University. Mr. Silver is an active member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars. Mr. Silver is also a CPA and a member of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs. He is a member of Lehigh’s Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi honor societies. He is enrolled to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Washington, D.C. Estate Planning Council.
Mr. Silver has served as Chairman of the National Law Alumni Board for Georgetown University Law Center, on the Board of Governors and its Executive Committee for Georgetown University, and on the Board of the Lehigh University Alumni Association. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center and the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Business and Economics of Lehigh University. He also serves on the board of directors of a number of corporations and as trustee for several charitable foundations.
