Maintaining a secure environment is very important to the entire Lehigh community. We believe that an effective approach to campus safety includes prevention, education, and the ability to respond.
A variety of security measures are implemented throughout campus, including a 24-hour locked door policy, access cards for entry into residence halls, exterior emergency phones throughout campus, a cell phone messaging alert system, security screens, well-lit walkways, and a safety escort service and a bus service among residence halls and academic buildings from dusk until dawn.
The Lehigh University Police Department is a fully trained staff, certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and accredited through the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, who receive the most current training available in law enforcement, medical response and other related areas. The university police provide coverage 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Staff members from the University Police Department and the Office of the Dean of Students Office present a variety of educational programs to students on safety-related topics.
