The Lehigh University home page integrates Responsive Web Design techniques and web accessibility standards to ensure that content is “mobile aware” and automatically adapts to fit the form factor of tablet, smartphone and desktop computer browsers concurrently. Visitors benefit from this by having access to content across Lehigh's website in an equivalent form that is both Section 508 compliant and optimized for the device of their choice.
To help achieve compliance, WebAIM.org, a third party authority in web accessibility, has evaluated this website and certifies it to be conformant with Level A and Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 and all requirements of Federal Section 508 §1194.22 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998.
The Lehigh University home page (http://www.lehigh.edu/home exclusively) was evaluated for compliance. A representative sample of site pages were evaluated in February 2014. WebAIM cannot verify that any changes to the site made after this date conform to these accessibility guidelines.
Lehigh University strives to make all web pages and content accessible for all visitors by using standards-compliant HTML and techniques to comply with federal web accessibility standards, such as providing alternative text for images. Additionally, in 2007, Lehigh University acquired a campus-wide license for the Usablenet Assistive product, a real-time transcoding service that dynamically generates a text-only, assistive technology-compatible, version of web content. Lehigh web pages incorporating the "text-only" link provided by the Usablenet service possess the added capability to generate this text-only view of a website.
