Mobility-Impaired Parking & Seating Options

Carefully review the information below and consider making the necessary plans to help make the day as comfortable as possible for you and your guests.

We provide a limited number of mobility-impaired parking and seating spaces for the University Commencement Ceremony for those in need.

These special parking and seating accommodations will be helpful, however, please be advised that the University does not provide wheelchairs. Guests will need to provide their own wheelchair should they require the use of one.

To request a Mobility-Impaired Parking Permit, please email inuday@lehigh.edu with your name, mailing address, telephone number and which permit type you are requesting (please see below for options) to receive a permit to park your vehicle in a designated area. Permits will be mailed in early May.

If you already have a handicapped tag of your own, you may use it for access to either parking option (see below) in lieu of a University issued permit.

Option A
Reserved for those who require use of a wheelchair. Parking is located at Goodman Stadium and is within walking distance of the stadium.

There will be parking attendants along the driveway as you enter to help guide you to the proper parking area. Be sure to tell the attendants if you have a wheelchair.

Option B
Reserved for those who are not wheelchair bound. This parking lot is located at Stabler Arena. You will park your car and walk to the curb where you will board a shuttle bus marked “handicapped.” The shuttle bus will drop you off at the entrance to Goodman Stadium. Shuttle buses will run continuously throughout the ceremony. There will be a booster step to help guests get in and out of the bus. We ask that only one member of the handicapped person’s party accompany them on the bus; others in your party should meet you in front of the stadium at the shuttle drop off. You do not need a ticket to board the bus.

The handicapped shuttle buses will be waiting in front of Goodman Stadium to transport guests back to the Stabler Arena handicapped parking lot following the Ceremony.

WHEELCHAIR SEATING
Wheelchair seating is located along the railings. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair should you wish to sit next to the guest in a wheelchair. Remaining party members are asked to sit in the bleachers.

HANDICAPPED SEATING
For handicapped people who do not require a wheelchair, seating is located on the top row of the bottom section of seats (these seats require one step down). Handicapped seating is also located on the bottom row of the upper section of seats (these seats require four steps up). We do not take reservations for these seats. They are on a first come, first served basis. These are bleacher seats with no backs. We encourage you to bring a stadium seat if you need a seat with back support. We ask that only one member of the handicapped person’s party accompanies them in this row; remaining party members are asked to sit in the rows directly in front of them.

Guests are encouraged to arrive by 9:00 a.m.

If you have any questions, please contact University Events at 610-758-3898 or inuday@lehigh.edu.
